How Moving Set Me Free

Hi, I’m Angela “Angie” Berrett (she/they), Founder of Angie Berrett Movement. I know what it feels like to believe you’re broken and unlovable. For years, I carried the weight of childhood sexual abuse—a pain so deep it felt like a black hole inside me. I built a life as a Registered Nurse, caring for others, but no amount of outward success could heal the hurt I carried within.


In 2017, I hit rock bottom. Everything felt like it was falling apart, and I knew I had to find another way to live. I explored countless pathways to healing, but none truly brought the transformation I was searching for.  


 That’s when I discovered the power of play, movement, and imagination! These tools became my lifeline—helping me process the emotional and physical pain I had buried for years. With every movement, I unlocked another piece of my resilience. I wasn’t just surviving anymore—I was thriving!

Now I help women like you heal from stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Through playful movement, creative expression, and compassionate guidance, I’ll help you reconnect with your body, release the pain that’s been holding you back, and rediscover your joy. 


MY JOURNEY AND EXPERTISE

 

  • RN with a BSN in Nursing (University of Utah, 2003)
  • 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) (YogaWorks, 2018)
  • Certified Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga Instructor (Longwave Yoga, 2018)
  • Advanced Certification in Trauma-Informed Yoga and Somatics (Collective Resilience, 2021, 150 hours)


 My background in healthcare, trauma-informed practices, and playful movement uniquely equips me to guide women who feel trapped by their past and disconnected from their bodies.

If you’re feeling stuck—trapped by stress, self-doubt, or old wounds—you don’t have to stay there. I provide safe, nurturing spaces for women to reconnect with their inner child, release the weight of trauma, and rediscover joy.

Why I Do This Work

The lotus flower inspires everything I do at Angie Berrett Movement. Like the lotus, we begin in the mud—surrounded by challenges, pain, and darkness. But with perseverance and self-compassion, we rise through those struggles, blooming into the vibrant, thriving people we were always meant to be.


Movement was my way out of the mud, and it can be yours too. Whether it’s in your living room, on a paddleboard, or a yoga mat, playful and intentional movement has the power to transform your life.

A Little About Me

When I’m not helping others transform their lives, you’ll find me outdoors—hiking, running, paddleboarding, or even trying to catch a wave as I learn to surf. My sweet dog, Ria, is often by my side, joining me for adventures on land and water.
